Housing Services

PVCH Housing provides a broad range of support for those living in or with connections to the City of Whittlesea Local Government Area who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. We are funded to provide support to:

  • Single parents aged 16 – 65 years
  • Young people aged 16 -25 years
  • Single adults aged 26 -65 years
  • Assistance may include:

    • Assessment, information and referral about current housing situation and potential options.
    • Support to make applications for public housing (NB. Waiting times for public housing may well be in excess of 3 years) as well as other community and social housing organisations.
    • Care coordination regarding issues caused by or impacting on housing/homelessness.
    • An integrated service response from the whole Counselling, Housing and Support Unit at PVCH.

    What Support do we Offer?

In providing support to address issues that have led to, or resulted from, the experience of homelessness, we work together with our clients to develop and work on an individual plan of action. As part of that action plan we may:

    • Advocate for our clients needs with other services and agencies
    • Provide access to available community workshops
    • Provide information relating to available supports and resources
    • Make referrals to appropriate complementary services
    • Make applications for relevant available philanthropic funding
    • Meet at the office or in the client’s home
    • Provide limited transport to attend identified appointments and interviews

    PVCH Housing service has:

  • Limited access to a small number of Transitional Housing properties.
  • Tenancy in these properties is for a short to medium term and is dependant upon the client engaging fully with our support services and working towards a realistic housing exit.
  • The tenant must sign a lease and is responsible for all rent and bills
  • PVCH Housing does not hold a waiting list and unfortunately we cannot provide emergency or crisis accommodation. North East Housing Service in Preston has limited funds for emergency accommodation: Phone: 9479 0700.
